I used deflicker filter to reduce flickering of a S8 material I captured with my DV camera. I don’t have a projector with a variable speed rate so I have to find a way to reduce the flickering due to different frame rates. The parameters of the filter were: window size: 6 softening: 2 I run the film two times (preparing and processing). Then I saved the film using Panasonic DV codec. The quality of the avi file was very good but then I made a DVD using Pinnacle Studio DV. The result was even a more flickering film then the original. I even tried to send the filtered file back to the band, recapture it and make a new DVD. There were not differences. Any suggestions? |

Take a look at the new deflicker from MSU. Telecine is my business and there is sometimes film that was shoot with weak batteries. If it is sound then to get the right sound delivery speed it results in flicker.
I hace use the other two CD deflicker plug-ins with good success leaving only a plusing in the bright white areas.
Try this approch. Avisynth script.

Use Alparysoft's deinterlacer deflicker
Save in either Leadtolls' Mjpeg or Divx codec "Very Important" Burn DVD non-interlaced

Hi,
Thanks for the suggestions. I had a look on the MSU filter but, to be honest, I was not able to find the right configuration. The explanation how to use the filter was quite confusing to me. I think I will try to find the other two filter you mentioned.
Thanks a lot. |
