I had cropped off a video with 16 pixels around each side. I had tried several different ways and my video always comes out with a black border at the top and bottom. How can I setup the Null Transform filter to avoid a black border at the top and bottom of the video ? My final video output is 720x480. Thanks. |

I think you should rather use the "Resize" filter in stead of the "Null Transform" filter.
When your original video is 720x480 and you cut of 16 pixels around each side you will have to "resize" it back to 720x480.
So you should Add... the Resize filter to Video > Filters...
Than click on the name of that filter in the Filters list and click "Configure...":
- "New Size" = Absolute 720 by 480,
- "Aspect Ratio" = Disabled,
- "Framing Options" = Do not letterbox or crop,
- "Codec Friendly Sizing" = "Do not adjust",
Then click OK.
Click "Cropping..."
- Cut off the black parts
Click OK and OK once again.
When you preview the result on the second screen in VirtualDub (the Output video pane), you should see no more black borders ?
To have an aspect ratio of 16:9, I should rather resize to 720x404,
for an aspect ratio of 4:3, I should resize to 720x540,
but if the results with 720x480 are good for you, than you can leave like it is.

Abazo, you had made my day. I really appreaciate your explanation on how to use this filter. I had been confused for a very long time. I had been on different forums and either I'm chastised, or the person thinks that I'm stupid for asking a dumb question. I just gave up a long time on figuring how to use the Null Transform and Resize filter. I'm very happy because of your way of explaining my problem. Thanks again. Have a nice day.
