I need to open mp4 file with virtualdub.

I tried the input plugins from "Pinned", it opened the video, but the video doesn't work - there's a black screen.

With which plugin?
Remove MP4 input plugin (is not 'completed').

Try QuickTime input plugin (requires installed QuickTime) or DirectShow import driver (requires installed DirectShow filters - such as MP4 Splitter and ffdshow) or FFImportDriver. For last two rather you have to manually 'change' file type (when opening a video file).

Or change container to MKV using MKVToolnix and try Matroska input plugin (requires installed VfW and ACM codecs).

What are A/V formats? H.264/AVC video and AAC audio?

In my experience the way through the Matroska input plugin is the one that works better.
