what is the difference in use between MPEG2 plugin and VDMPEG2? Why both?

It's been almost a year since the last release of VirtualDub-MPEG2, so I guess we should consider it a dead project. I can't imagine any reason I would ever update it again. In the last year the development of the MPEG-2 and WMV plugins have made VirtualDub-MPEG2 obsolete.
Might be time for a redesign of the web site...
