Is there any chance in the future that a virtualdub version
of the avisynth MT filter (multithread) could be introduced

Heh... reminds me of video card SLI/CrossFire modes... you have split screen and alternate frame rendering (AFR).

Both of these are possible, but they have to be done in the host (VirtualDub) -- VirtualDub filters can't do this because they are isolated from each other by design. Someone wrote a program a while back that used AFR-style multithreading with stock VirtualDub plugins.
