Hi,
I am trying to use Virtual Dub to save a video in MP4\H.264 format, but i am not having any success. The only codec I have found is x264vdw - H.264/MPEG-4-AVC. But when encoding a video using this codec my Ipod says it is not a supported format. (I use the default settings, but have tried each of the VFW FourCC settings in the codec configuration, H264,h264,X264,x264, etc, etc)

I have used the utulity H.264 Encoder (MPEG-4/AVC) to encode my video which works fine with my Ipod and I simply check the High Quality checkbox and click Encode. I can then transfer it to my Ipod with no problem,

They are the same codec so can anyone tell me why one encoder works with my Ipod and the other does not?

What settings in the Virtual Dub compression settings for the MP4 codec would make it work?

Thanks for any help!

Encoding to H.264 is not enough -- you also need to target the MP4 container. If you are saving an AVI file with H.264 video compression that won't do it.
