I'd like to be able to stabilize videos in a manner that a certain object (or the only object visible) will remain in the same position along the whole video. E.g. I made videos of a buzzard filmed in flight (with blue sky as background) or a helicopter. As I filmed hand-held there was a lot of shaking. Deshaker does a very good job here. However I thought it should be possible to make a 'perfect' stabilisation in such cases as the shape/ color of the object doesn't change much during the video. You could for example take a small area of the object for comparison and let the filter move the object to the same position for each frame, e.g. to the center. So the buzzard/ helicopter would always be in the very same position.

I've been told this can be done but so far it seems it hasn't been, or has it? If nobody knows how to perhaps there's a tool (non-VD) that can do it?

Cheers
Stephan

or let me ask it this way (I know my request isn't trivial):

I'm trying to write an avisynth script now but I'd need to know a couple of things. One being that I'd like to be able to scan frames for certain color values (or pixels). Is there a way or filter to do that?

Cheers

well, I finally found a way to do it. Using all sorts of snippets I could find on the net I finally created a tool that enabled me to center single objects in a footage. Still a bit shaky I used Deshaker 2.7 to stabilize the object. If you like you can take a look at my first result:

also see video description

edit: here's another video I made with it:

ps.: will make the program available as soon as it is a bit more user-friendly smile.gif
