I need to convert some DV 4:3 footage to 16:9 anamorphic so I can mix it with other 16x9 anamorphic footage. I know I can crop it but when I save as an AVI (DV codec) and bring it into Vegas, it is still being seen as a 4:3 video but with the top and bottom cropped. I suspect this is because the true 16:9 DV footage has a stretched vertical pixels and the cropped footage does not. Guessing there is also info in the DV stream that flags 16:9 or 4:3.
If anyone has a process that would work please post. |

I was able to create what I think is 16x9 anamorphic by cropping 60 px from top and bottom and then resizing to 720x480. But when I save out the clip is always treated as a 4:3 AR.
Is there a method to set the AR flag for a DV stream? |

The cedocica DV codec (link) allows you to set the AR flag.
Of course it is not sure that all programs respect this flag.
