I have a dub from a VHS tape which was made from a film without the proper pulldown. So it has 2 frames which have matched fields, then 2 frames with fields from mismatched frames. In other words say you have film frames 1,2,3,4,5...
The VHS tape has upper, lower half frames from film 1, and then from film 2. But following that is a half frame from 2 with a half frame from 3. Then following that is the other half of 3 with half of 4. Then finally the two matched halves of 4.
Does anyone know of a deinterlacer that can handle this situation. I also have the problem that sometimes the video transfer glitches and puts a frame out of order (the dreaded Hauppauge problem). I would like to have a properly deinterlaced video with the frames all matched correctly.
Then once this is done, the noise processing and stabilization routines may be coerced into working better.
I think this may have been an old fashioned way of recording videos before the 3/2 pulldown.
The Miksun deinterlacer is not bad, but some frames are still slightly softer. |

OOps, I just realized this is a proper 3/2 pulldown. But it certainly makes deinterlacing a problem. |

If it's a proper pulldown pattern you shouldn't use a deinterlacer, but pulldown removal (IVTC)
