I am working on smart rendering a file but I'm realizing the extensions are different and I know Vdub can't save back to MP4 directly.

I believe I would have to demux the MP4 and put it into an AVI container then mux it back into an MP4 container after I'm done but then how would I use smart rendering for the following AVI intermediate file?

Spec of the MP4 file in question:

Would x264 or FFDshow work on the intermediate AVI file?

I'm finding this to be too much hassle for all that it is worth.

I used Yamb to demux then AVCtoAVI to create a video-only file in AVI container, then I had to resave the AAC file to Wav, import that all into Vdub and then..... Yeah. Think I'll just stick to using some other intermediate.
