I tried asking this question in the newbie board and many other video boards... somebody please help me!

I am using VirtualDub to convert my Divx movie which has uncompressed audio to mp3 audio, so the file will fit on a cd. I set video to Direct
Stream Copy, and set Audio to Full Processing Mode, and tell it to
encode it in 160 kbs mp3.

When it starts encoding, it goes fine for about 2 minutes, and after
a while, it just stops encoding. The program doesn't freeze or
crash. The frames encoded per second simply drops down to zero, and
the "elapsed time" continues to tick. I have a P4 machine that
supports SSE2, and I have tried using Virtual Dub in both the SSE2
version and the regular version with different movie files. I still
encounter the same problems. Any ideas?

Well you can do one of two things. Either try the same procedure in nandub or try to demux the audio from the video and then encode and mux them back together. You can do that with save as wav command.Encode it with an encoding proggie and mux again with the video stream you have demuxed with the save as avi command.Just make sure you have them both on direct stream copy.
