Hi, I've made some movies with my DV and now, I'd like it to look like a movie. I've added the stripes on the top and the bottom of the film.
I know there are some plugins for Premiere (Cinelook, FilmFX) but they are : 1. difficult to use and 2. very very expensive.
I was wondering if there was a kinda filter which could give my video footage a more movie-like aspect.
If anyone has an idea, I would appreciate
Take care |

Hi, I dont think it is a very good idea to add the borders, cause you also will have to encode them and you will loose important diskspace for the movie itself. And if you have a resolution that differs from 4:3 you will have boarders anyway. Someone got what I meant ? Sorry for my horrible English.
You could go to Donald Grafts site and look around a bit, maybe you can find a filter that satisfies you: http://shelob.mordor.net/dgraft/

I got what BaronVlad meant, and he is absolutely correct. However, if your borders are pure black (RGB = 0,0,0) and the height of each border is a multiple of 16 pixels, I suspect that the encoding cost (or wasted diskspace) will be minimal.

Hi,
Thanks for your answers. I got what u meant and I've erased the borders as It was cutting too much of the image itself. Some scenes are very closely filmed and I'd like to see the whole face of the guy who got married
I've applied the blur filter and it gives me a less DV aspect but it's not exactly what I'm looking for.
I went to Donald's website and emailed him. I'll let u know the advices he gave me. Some other people might be interested in
Thanks again and have a good day ! |

Hi, these are my advices for Cine style.
First deinterlace your image, that's the main rule for cine-like movement. Second, blast away as many noise as you can!! (try dinamic noise reduction filter). Third, retouch your contrast and gamma levels to make them more film like. Lastly, you may need to add some grain to the image.Problem: there is no Vdub filter to add noise. But if you have a friend who knows programming ask him to look into ffdshow source code.It has a great grain filter. aka noise.
see you

Hi all,
Thanks Morsa for all those great advices. I gonna try right now ;-)
I've emailed Donald with the same question but he answered that it was "simply too vague to answer". Strange... it seems that u all have understood what I wanted...
Anyway, I gonna try the settings u gave me and let u know
Thanks again |
