trying to create a two pass xvid as per doom9 instructions

create job for each pass

start jobs and vdub disappears

open vdub and jobs again, shows first job aborted

do first and second pass manually and works fine, methinks something wrong with job control

Any ideas?

For job control a special dll file is required ( sylia.dll ) to be in system32 folder .... copy it from vdub folder to there and try again ...

The file was missing from system32. I copied the file then rebooted and tried again. Same problem...

FYI, I clean-installed win2k due to some other issues and still could not perform jobs. After the install and through more troubleshooting, I found my video card to be defective. I replaced the card and job control works fine. rolleyes.gif

I don't really know. It was getting to the point that I would just click on an encoder or video game or winamp (with visual effects) and I would get a page fault Stop error. Not all the time, about once or twice a day. Everything I could find pointed to bad ram or bad hardware or sharing IRQs. Well, ram just doesn't go bad and I could still zip/rar large files, so I figured I had too much crap installed, and maybe some hardware drivers were screwed (been running 6 months without reinstall, and you know how shareware and stuff ruins windows rolleyes.gif )

After the reinstall, things were worse, stop errors every hour type of deal. I ran a bunch of tests, trying to isolate the prob, this included your job control (don't you feel honored biggrin.gif. It failed.) Then I found out about irq sharing was a possibillity, so the that was next.

My MB has enumerates the hardware at all different irq, but due to win2k handling ACPI, all irqs were the same in the OS. There is a setup switch that I found hidden in M$ knowledge base dry.gif . Press F5 at hardware detection phase of setup. It allows a person to disable or choose different ACPI settings the OS will adhere to. I chose standard pc, which allowed the MB settings to take over in the OS.

Once I got up and in VGA mode, I could not install factory drivers for vid card. The irq was fine for the card. In the past, I never could install updated drivers on this ATI as it wouldn't enumerate properly. I switched to another vid card and now the box runs fine, and we're thinking the vid card had bad ROM to start with, just got worse over the past year.

Anyway, thanks again for being so quick to help me, I really appreciate it!
