I have ripped a DVD, and have used DVD2AVI. From there is virtual dub a program that will allow me to join the files into one continuous stream? If so, how exactly (step by step) do you use it? What shoud I tick, etc. I just want to save to my hard drive and not burn a VCD or XVCD. Do I make sense?  |

 Don't be so hasty to tell people you have ripped a DVD! Let's just say you've obtained a DVD rip from an unknown source, OK?
I've never used the (probably illegal) program you mentioned. What files did the program create that you would need to join them? I assume from the name of the program that they are AVI files, therefore:
1) Start VirtualDub
2) File->Open video file (choose the first AVI)
3) File->Append AVI segment (choose the second AVI)
4) Repeat step 3 for each additional segment
5) Choose Video->Direct stream copy
6) File->Save old format AVI (create a new AVI)
If step 3 fails, the AVI files are incompatible and your problem becomes much more complicated.

I assume you visit http://www.doom9.org , goto download section and get 'TheGordianKnot' from there.
Its based on Vitualdub, does the frameserving etc. via AVISynth and is very comfortable and flexible also ....
