Maybe I have missed something but I have used VirtualDub on both an XP and a WIN8.1 PC and every time I open it again it has forgotten the video capture filter (video decoder) PAL-I.
If I close it then re-open the filter is changed to PAL-B and if I have re-booted the machine it is set to NTSC-M.
Also if I tick Save current display mode as default in Capture device options for the Device / Device settings that check box is never remembered.
The "device" is a USB 2861 video capture device.
All (and I mean all!) other settings for audio and video are remembered.
I am using v1.10.4 VirtualDub.
A bit more information - when I open VDub it has the PAL output from a UK Sky satellite box SCART output via the 2861 capture device applied to it (actually the problem exists whether or not the video signal is present). The problem exists for both Overlay and Preview modes. I have searched this forum extensively for this problem or something like it and I have not found anything.....
Can anyone help me here?

1) I can only confirm that in VirtualDub's "capture mode", the Video > Capture filter ... > "Video Standard" is not remembered after doing a reboot of the computer. It is a little strange that the "Video Standard"-setting lasts when you quit "capture mode" and even when you exit VirtualDub. Something makes that - after a reboot of the computer - this setting returns to "NTSC_M". I made a 'request' for this: http://forums.virtualdub.org/index.php?act...ST&f=15&t=22215
2) When in "capture mode", the Device > Device settings... > "Save current display as default", must be seen as the (one time) recording/save of the actual display setting, being one of three possibilities : No display / Overlay / Preview. I think it has no use to leave that "Save current display as default"-box continuously at checked, because when you should change the display setting (volontarely or not) to one of the other possibilites, it should be recorded as the new default. I suppose that this is not what we want. So, if you want to save your actual display setting as default, then click at Device > Device settings..., check the "Save current display as default"-checkbox and click OK. |
