Dear all, I try to open an AVI file with audio mp3 using VDM 1.5.10.3, but it says VBR audio stream detected Error blah blah... which asked: Do you still want to rewrite the header? Despite have disabled in the Preferences (Do not correct MPEG Layer III audio streams checked), but it was still considered errors..!
It's so funny when opened by VD (VirtualDub 1.10.4) is no problem, there is also a correct mp3 streaming with the constant bit rate. Could anyone help with this? Any help or ideas will be greatly appreciated, thank you. |

There's no solution to problems with virtualdubmod It's not even from this site, it's a very old modified version of virtualdub that's abandoned
You could try exporting the audio stream and reimporting it, that's the only thing I can suggest

Okay, but the question about Do you still want to rewrite the header, what should I have to do, Yes or No? I guess No.. am I wrong? |

Yes seems to be recommended: "the current preference is to rewrite the audio header"
...but you have to try it. And try not to use variable bitrate MP3 in the future.
Here's what the latest VirtualDub says about variable bitrate MP3:

rewrite header = possible sync drift don't rewrite header = some players might not accept it.

Try it both ways and see what works best?
Yes means it should change the header to a cbr one No means it should leave it alone Both could cause problems or be fine (when seeking or with sync offset etc)

1) It is necessary to close this window simply. Not in which case to disagree! 2) After recode in CBR. |

Thanks for quick reply, I always use CBR in MP3/AC3 streaming. Here's my experiments: 1. If I choose Yes to MP3 audio (thereafter export to wav to reconvert MP3+CBR), and after importing there will be a delay between video and audio where the singer's lip movements are not synchronized to the song (fractions of a second). If I choose No, there will be good without any delays. 2. But if I use AC3 audio, choosing Yes or No remains the same worst will always delay, but this will be resolved when I use AC3 delaycut 1.4 to fix it.

Selecting both Autodetect or Constant bit rate (CBR) are equally fine - no difference at all, because before converting, the video contained CBR already. Well, that's my experience after trying repeatedly, any ideas? |

Is it just vbr mp3 that some stupid third-party VD old clone can't open?
MeGui can "multiplex" in/out multiple A/V tracks in various formats/containers.
AVI - don't use multi-audio tracks in AVI - HW players can't read them anyway. And VBR too. Delete the Mod clone from HDD and everything's finely fine.
for vbr audio best use mp4. mkv format is somewhat incorrect seems to me. |

@meowmeow, >Is it just vbr mp3 that some stupid third-party VD old clone can't open? See my second screenshot - that's Vdub 1.10.4. VBR MP3 is opened, but you still get a messagebox.
@leopard392, Just recode at CBR and get it over with! |

Yes, the same too with SUPER © and Hybrid. For me MKV is good without any problem, it's more modern than AVI. |
