Have an AVI where audio was off by 700ms. Went to Audio tab at top chose Interleaving and changed Audio skew correction to 700ms and now matches avi perfectly. Using VirtualDub 1.9.11, 8gig memory, miles of disk space and using AMD 955 processor. I can't find a reference to this error message. Help please.

You ticked 'use advanced filtering' on the audio menu
You don't need to unless you're setting up audio filters
Altering a track delay doesn't need to, you can keep both audio and video on direct stream copy

You do it the way you did it before - the interleaving dialog and set the skew correction :-)
Except, without ticking the advanced filtering option

The audio skew is a different thing to the advanced filtering (it's stored in the avi header and doesn't require any recompression)

The advanced filtering is a different beastie, it's for modifying the audio with filters like pitch shift, center cut etc etc etc
When you tick that, the menu entry 'filters' just underneath it is enabled
What you're supposed to do (if you needed filters) is click on that, and a new dialog box comes in where you would do something like add 'input, add 'pitch shift', add 'output'. Then you could double click the 'pitch shift' box and double the pitch to make everyone sound like Chipmunks
You could actually do something useful with it, but honestly, don't we all need more people speaking like Chipmunks???

Audio skew correction looks like this (w/o adv. filtering)

Output Mode in adv. filter graph (if you need to make with sound something very nasty):

meowmeow never use this, preferring "visual" editor.
