I love virtual dub, its been good to me. However recently, the audio i import is sometimes slowed then plays normally and then slowed again. This is a recent problem and i have no idea how or y it started. its kinda like game lag, except this is audio lag. I don't wanna use Windows movie maker sad.gif.
Is there a way to just play the audio normally while the video runs?

Don't mistake this for a syncing issue. I've tried looking for solutions for this problem on youtube and here but I was unsuccessful.
Any help would b appreciated.

Thanks.

Does it make a difference when, via the Options -menu, the "Sync to audio" is being checked out ?

There is no difference. Also when i check the "slow frames when behind" option in the option menu, the audio plays fine but then the video lags really bad.

Chances are great that the video that you are opening/importing in VirtualDub has Variable Frame Rate (VFR) instead of Constant Frame Rate CFR).
I'm afraid that VirtualDub nor the AVI-containerformat can handle this...

Try compress the video to an intermediate avi file.

Use Largarith codec for lossless intermediate avi file to keep the lossless avi file size smaller. Audio if chosen what you like as is or as default encode lossless pcm. Save the video avi after load the new video to check if any better

LOL i found a solution. so simple. First convert the VFR video to a different rate process it with no audio, then import that video and add the audio lol. It works
