Ok, if I want to see/edit videos with AC3 in VD I have to install the necessary AC3 codec.
However from my point of view there are two different way of AC3 installation/usage:
1.) Use the AC3 VD plugin from here: http://fcchandler.home.comcast.net/~fcchan.../AC3/index.html or 2.) Use the AC3 ACM codec from here: http://www.free-codecs.com/AC-3_ACM_Decomp...or_download.htm
So whats the difference (between plugin and ACM)?
Are both ways equivalent regarding VD?

AC3 input plugin is suitable only to add audio from external .ac3 file (through audio from other file... option). This plugin doesn't contain a decoder.
AC3 ACM codec it's of course ACM codec to decoding/encoding AC-3 audio - can be used in any application that uses ACM framework.
