Right, here's my problem:
I record videos from a game using fraps and I want to use VirtualDub to resize them (Fraps files are massive, >1GB). I downloaded the xvid codec. So what i do is, I record the video with fraps, then i open it with VirtualDub, go into compression and choose the xvid codec. I go on to save the file as .AVI, it comes up with that little box which is compressing, depending on the file size it takes around 1-2 minutes, and the new projected file size is between 30 and 70 MB which is fine for me. Now, I can't see the newly saved resized videos anywhere apart from when I try to load a video using virtualdub, here's a screenshot:

So that's what I see when I try to select a video to edit with virtualdub, the first 2 videos which you can see are the original, >1GB videos made with fraps, and I can see them in the actual folder and can select them for uploading etc. However, the next 3 files (Lee sin, Lee sinn, Quadra Kill Brand) I can ONLY see in this screen, i can't select them from anywhere else and my system doesn't even seem to know they exist, but these are the <100mb files which I need, how can I access them for uploading and what do I need to do? Sorry if this is not a newbie question but wasn't sure where to post this (also if you look at the screenshot the 3 resized videos seem to have a little lock in the bottom left corner, I guess that's related, the files aren't hidden or read-only).
Thanks! Kusnier |

Probably this has something to do with some possibility in Windows 7 to store files as "private", so no other program should see them. (Don't ask me to explain...).
What you best can do in the future - when you do "Save as AVI..." from within VirtualDub - is choose a destination folder where you have no problem seeing other video files when looking in them by using Windows Explorer.
To move the actual videos (with a lock on them) to another folder, you should - from within VirtualDub - click on the File-menu > Open video file... to show up the dialogbox. Here you should see the videos in question and within this box, you can use the cut and paste options (right click on a file) to move the videos to another location.
Good luck ! |

Thanks, as it turns out all I have to do is to save the file somewhere else, when I saved as .AVI on desktop it was fine, something must be wrong with the Fraps folder
