Hey there. I downloaded Virtualdub the other day because I heard that I might be able to achieve better framerates when using it for capturing video from my Xbox360.
After applying these settings that I found on another forum:
| QUOTE | VirtualDub settings for recording from xbox360 with Blackmagic Intensity Pro Use the same framerate that is used by xbox360 for outputting video Select "Capture" -> "Disk I/0" and set chunk in buffer to 64 and chunk size to 2 mb Select "Capture" -> "Timing" and check "Do not resync between audio and video stream" if you get audio and video out-of-sync You have some other things to configure like codec and you can capture the easy way. Select "Capture" -> "Hide display on capture" and hide your display to save PCI bandwidth. |
I did indeed get much better framerates. Occasionally the video skips a little but it's not too bad. My problem is with audio. After reviewing my captured video I noticed that the audio is fine for a while, but as the video goes on the audio skips a whole lot. Sometimes it skips entire minutes, making the video completely unusable.
I don't really need lossless video as I will re-render the video as .wmv using Sony Vegas for Youtube, it would really help if I could compress it somehow to reduce file sizes. But Virtualdub won't let me change the compression option for my Intensity Pro. Also, is it possible to force Virtualdub to record at 30fps instead of 60? I don't need 60fps video as Youtube forces all videos to play at 30fps anyway. As for the audio, would it be better to record the audio seperately using Audacity or something?
[Edit] I downloaded the 32bit version of virtualdub last night (instead of the 64bit version) and managed to get the BlackMagic codec working and it seems to have fixed everything. |
