I have 1.9.10 & 1.9.11 installed on a 64 bit machine. There are 2 things I can't figure out.

First, I have DIVX 6.8.2 installed which presumably will run on 64 bit machines. 1.9.11 can't seem to find it. 1.9.10 can. But the 1.9.10 dialogue has nearly everything grayed out. On the main tab, I can't uncheck 'use presets to configure the encoder' and on the video tab, I can't set a custom resize. Those are 2 examples of grayed out options but there are 1/2 a dozen or so more. DIVX 6.8.2 installed & operates properly in 1.9.10 on my 32 bit machine. So I'm wondering how I can get 1.9.11 to recognize DIVX & 1.9.10 to operate DIVX properly i.e. without everything grayed out.

I don't know if this means anything, but the DIVX dialogue identifies itself as v 6.9 yet I downloaded a 6.8.2 installer.

Second, 1.9.10 recognizes all plugins/filters. 1.9.11 recognizes nothing. Is that because filters/plugins need to be rewritten for 64 bit? I did try to install fccHandler's flv plugin which has a 64 bit flavor to be installed in a 'plugins64' folder but, alas, no luck.

I notice the 1.9.11 version, 32842, has a 'release-AMD64' notation on it. I am running on AMD's Phenom II x6 if that notation means that version will only run on AMD processors. And I can encode using XVID under 1.9.11.

32bit programs only use 32bit plugins and codecs
64bit programs only use 64bit plugins and codecs

64bit os's can run 32 and 64 bit programs

The divx vfw encoder is older than the rest of the package, so it's version is lower
Even with the very latest divx, the vfw codec is version 6.9.2

The parts in the codec that are greyed out, are greyed out because you haven't paid for the pro features and registered it

Xvid is a similar codec, is free, and comes in 32 and 64 bit flavours

Okay...thanks, Kimosabe, for confirming the issue with 64 bit plugins/filters.

That's interesting about DIVX requiring payment now to access all features. I guess they weren't doing that when I last upgraded it on my 32 bit machine. With the breadth of VD filters available, its not a real problem because I can have filters handle the functions I used to let DIVX take care of.

Thanks again for the quick response!
