When I try to encode a segment of VCD/mpg file to a divx 5.02 file (using version 1.4.10), The result will be 2 or more clips. Every clip after 1st will start out green for a few seconds.

How do I end up with 1 whole file (which should take care of the green frames) and is there a setting somewhere?

-thanks

sounds like you're using "Save segmented AVI". Try using "Save as AVI" instead.

and please be more specific about settings/options you're using ( that helps a lot for those who want to help you ).

Yeah I am trying to encode segments of a mpg file. When encoding the whole file everything works like it should.

Video Compression - Divx Pro 5.0.2 (using the 1-pass quality-based preset)
Audio Compression - MPEG Layer-3 (64 kBit/s, 44,100Hz, Mono)

All of the resulting clips(where the 1st split occurs) usually end up roughly about 90MBs and 13 mins.(could the number frames encoded be the limiting value?)

And the system I am using = XP and amd 1900+ if it helps.

Try to encode the whole file into one single AVI.

Then open this AVI in VirtualDub, set both Video and Audio to Direct Stream Copy and then mark one of the segments you want to save by using the slider at the bottom ( you can "fine tune" by using the arrow keys ) and by using the Home and End keys ( Home marks the beginning of a segment and End marks the end ). After you have marked your segment ( make sure that the beginning and the end are both keyframes. At the bottom on the right to the control buttons you'll see a [K] when it's a keyframe. E.g. the first frame always has to be a keyframe. BTW: that's you're problem. Not all segments are beginning with a keyframe ) save the segment by using "File | Save As AVI...".
