I'd like to know how to make an .avi file using vorbis audio? I know that there are direct show filters for vorbis audio, and now I want to produce divx videos using vorbis audio instead of mp3. The goal is higher quality audio.

Does anyone know how to get virtualdub to encode audio in vorbis format?

Thanks,
Brett

Vorbis is VBR (variable bitrate), that gives very goog quality with small files, but also incompatibility with AVI. Yust to prevent the next question "But I can have VBR MP3 in AVI???", you cannot correctly. It´s a hack and that´s why you oven get sync-problems. VBR-Audio cannot be used correctly in AVI.
But you can have videos with DivX+Vorbis, just not AVI, in OGM (Ogg Media), unfortunately VirtualDub doesn´t support it, but VirtualDubMod does. You need to encode your sound first (Good Vorbis encoders for direct transcoding: HeadAC3he, BeSweet) and then add the stream in the OGM-Input Stream List. Then Save the OGM. If you have the DirectShow-Filters installed you can play it with nearly every player.
