HI,

I've just installed VirtualDub 1.9.11 on Windows 7.

While opening a video file, I get this error message 'Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'XVID' (unknown) VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable.'

How to remedy this error?

Thanks for the reply. wink.gif

The clue is in the message
You don't have a VFW decompressor for xvid

So what you should do is get one -> http://www.xvid.org/Downloads.15.0.html

You'll usually get answers quicker if you just try googling error messages first, as you're not likely to be the first person to ask about it
