I'm running VirtualDub 1.9.11 on Windows 7 - 64 bit. I keep getting the following error when I'm trying to open some of my .avi files in VirtualDub.
"Couldn't locate decompressor for formant 'DIV3' (Microsoft High-Speed MPEG4-3 [Hack: DivX Low-Motion]"

I've installed the latest codecs from DivX, but the error still persists.

Where can I get the correct codec to open the .avi files?

Install ffdshow, then go to ffdshow video encoder configuration (config for VfW codec) > Decoder > Codecs > DivX 3 = libavcodec

Of course if You use VirtualDub x64, then You need ffdshow x64.

BTW
DivX 6 should be able to decode that video files, but there is only 32-bit version of DivX codec.
