Didnt mean to make another provocative advert thread, but need this for my own purpose. Highly appreciate any recommendations as I see there are a plenty of such programs available from the internet, but most are all probably crammed with ads and spyware, which I dont need.

foobar2000 is free music player that also has options to convert using commandline tools (in this case lame.exe). No adware, no spyware and it keeps tags as well.

You can use LameXP, fre:ac (formerly BonkEnc), foobar2000 (+ Lame encoder), AIMP Audio Tools, ...

Also can manually convert using FLAC encoder (as decoder) and Lame encoder.
Or can just use Lame with libsndfile.

Thanks for prompt responses and good advices.

I ended up with flac plugin for winamp that can decode flac to wav, and additionally installed razorlame gui along with lame encoder to process resultant wav files to mp3 format.

Well... so too may be - however, using this method (FLAC>WAV ...) You lose tags.
Also it lasts a bit longer (first decoding to uncompressed WAV and after encoding, instead just decoding/encoding at once).

Just installed Foobar to give it a try. Seems to work fine too, and yes, it converts things much faster

I see you have a method working for you already but just to throw it out: Audacity can import flac files and save to mp3 with the Lame encoder.

Since you guys seem to have lots of experience with different media tools and tweaks for PC, would you please help me to choose audio stream mp3 recorder in this thread?
