Im trying to condense movie sizes and I need to convert the audio, but when i go to mpeg layer-3 in my compression, i get no list of compressions. In fact, i get nothing for every single codec on my system except for the DIVX ;-) Audio. I have the fraunhoffer mp3 codec installed, but i still cant get anywhere.

Can Anyone Help Me Out?

Thanks

What is the sampling rate and bit depth of the PCM WAV audio you are trying to compress ?

Sorry, I should have been more specific, I'm trying to compress the sound and frame rate of an existing avi file. So the file already is encoded with mpeg-3 sound, i just want to take it down from 192kbps to 128 kbps

Somehow it seems your Fraunhofer Mp3 codec was screwed, unless you are referring to the limited version of this codec coming with every Windows install by default. It cant deal with higher bitrates.

Try this : set 'audio' to 'direct stream copy' and use the 'file' 'save WAV' function to demux the audio stream into a seprate file ( rename it to "sound.mp3" on demuxing, so you dont have to change extensions afterwards anymore.

Now process the MP3 you have here with any other MP3 capable reencoder such as winamp, and then user VirtualdubMod ( http://sf.net/projects/virtualdubmod ) to open the new MP3 and save it with your existing video in a new AVI.
