Hello,
I searched the board as well as I could for any information regarding this message but came up empty handed. Basically, the story is, any videos I take with my digital camera and download onto the computer play the video fine on WMP, but there is no audio for the videos.
Under "file information" in VirtualDub, the Audio Stream section shows:
Sampling rate: 11025Hz
Channels: 1 (Mono)
Sample precision: N/A
Compression: Unknown (tag 0007)
Layout: 631 chunks (0.00s preload)
Length: 231816 samples (0:21.02)
Min/avg/max/total frame size: 288/367/374 (227k)
Data rate: 88 kbps (6.13% overhead)
At this point i would like to make it clear i have little to no technical knowledge with what i'm dealing with. as far as i can understand i am missing a certain codec. i had trouble working out which one using Gspot. My operating system Vista. i've looked all over the net for a solution to this problem and hopefully one of you clever folk here will be able to help me out!
i would be overwhelmingly appreciative of any help that you could provide! thanks.

Tag 0007 is "WAVE_FORMAT_MULAW".
You can try searching that name in Google to find out more about the codec. What I have posted above is literally everything I know about it (tag = name), but maybe it helps you get started. Good luck.

TimothySmith, try VirtualDub 1.7.3-test1 (or test5).
