Frame Recognition, mpeg-2 video frame recognition

I have a need to search through 5 days worth of mpeg2 videos for a particular
signature. I have recorded 5 days worth of news and am now trying to perform
a quick review to find segments matching a certain frame signature.

Bascially some kind of Facial Recognition Software, but not for faces.

Has anyone here dealt with this? Hopefully I can find something that's
cheap or open source.
