Hello. I tried to open a vob file at Virtualdub 1.9.11 On the files of type there isn't any vob option, so I changed it to all types.
I could now find the file but a message appeared: MPEG Import filter: invalid pack at position 3: marker bit not set; possibly MPEG-2 stream. And so I wasn't able to open that file.
I tried to convert the vob to other formats (Avi, MPEG by Format Factory), but it converted less then one minute.
I tried moving the vob into a file named Plugin32[B] (as suggested in a youtube film) but it didn't open the file...
So, what should I di in order to open that vob file?
Thanks |

VOB is normally MPEG-2 video with AC-3 audio.
You should be able to open VOB in VirtualDub after installing the: > VirtualDub Mpeg2 Plugin and the > VirtualDub Ac3 Plugin
You can find them here: > http://sourceforge.net/projects/fcchandler.../?source=navbar
Installing means : extract the mpeg2.vdplugin and the ac3.vdplugin to the \plugins32 subfolder of the VirtualDub installation. So you will get for example : C:\Program Files\VirtualDub\plugins32\mpeg2.vdplugin and ac3.vdplugin
EDITED: It may also be necessary to install the AC3 audio-codec that you can find at the same location. Installation goes by first unzipping the downloaded file and then right-clicking the AC3ACM.inf in the \x86 subfolder)
At opening the file via the "Open video file" dialogbox, first select the *.VOB, then at "Files of type" select MPEG-2 files, after that : click the Open button. It is also good to know that you can check the "Ask for extended options after this dialog" in this same "Open video file" dialogbox. This will show you the option to open all the *.VOB files on a DVD as one single file (= Open multiple VOB files as one virtual file). |

Hi Abrazo. Thanks for your suggestions and help.
My Virtualdub file is inside the Avirecomp file. I hope this isn't the cause for the problem encounter while trying to open the files you reffered to. When trying to open the zipped files, I get a message that access is denied. Have you got any idea about things I should do?
Thank you |

Untill now I did not know about avi recomp.
I seems it has included VirtualDubMod. This is a rather "old" version of VirtualDub.
At my opinion, you could better download the actual version of VirtualDub itself and work with that. > official release : http://sourceforge.net/projects/virtualdub...11.zip/download > experimental version : http://www.virtualdub.org/beta/VirtualDub-...10.4-test10.zip
If you need Xvid, then download and install it too: > http://www.digital-digest.com/software/dow...52&ssid=0&did=1
The reason why you get an access denied error on the ZIP-files is probably that you put these files in a folder where you do not have write access. Put them in the first place in a folder where you know you can write/modify files. |
