Can someone point me to a post of document that will give me some information about fast recompress, normal recompress, full processing mode, and smart rendering in Virtualdub? I have looked at several guides and documents online but they don't really explain them very much or under what circumstances each is appropriate. Thanks. |

Fast Recompress, Normal and Full Processing Mode can be considered the same right now and are only kept for compatibility reasons. There were difference between these modes in the past, but they are not really existent anymore. The only remaining difference is that filters can only be used in Full Processing Mode.
Smart rendering is typically used when wanting only to recompress a small portion of the video, for example when you need to cut on a non-keyframe.

Hi guys,
Thanks for both your posts, They were helpful. For a long time I was not sure about those terms, was not sure which to use when processing a file. Nice to get that uncertainty behind me. |
