Avisynth V2.5.4 Breaks Vdubmod V 1.5.10.1, looking for suggestions

i just stuck up the new avisynth 2.5.4 and suddenly vdubmod 1.5.10.1 won't even open a window. click on it, and absolutely nothing happens.

i reinstalled avisynth 2.5.3 and suddenly vdubmod is working again.

anyone have any similar experiences, suggestions, thoughts, fixes?

Empty your plugin directory for filters that use the avisynth_c API.

and, yes, of course, it worked.

can you give me a sense of the connections which caused this to happen? clearly, there's a much closer linkage between virtualdubmod and avisynth than i had understood.
