Hi,
first - let me briefly describe my enviroment. I have some recorded multi session avi on a LAN connected PC. I'm using a second PC on that LAN to access the avi with VDub and work on it.
With 1.6.0, the 'Scene forward' function was (and still is with the 1.6.0) much faster.
With 1.6.1 I recognize a strong slow down on probably fast changing scenes. Same scene with 1.6.0 is really quick. I also noticed that if I use the mouse scroll it goes much faster through the frames than with the scene forward function.
Most people might not recognize this change, because they have the video localy on the same PC. But something seems to have changed.
Here two measured times for scene forward through the same 2 Minutes of a video: 1.6.0: 0:14 minutes 1.6.1: 6:42 minutes wow that's a difference!
looking forward to hear about your experiences regarding this function. JJ
p.s.: Network and PC's have not been changed.

Got it -- the preview seek code is sometimes causing the last frame pointer to reset when it shouldn't, which causes a whole series of frames to be re-read. This is more serious when you are reading over a LAN and when high degrees of compression are used. It doesn't affect the renders, only seeking on the timeline. Thanks for the report, and the bug will be fixed in 1.6.2.
In the meantime, if you'd like to help me test the fix, please contact me by email. |
