Hello

Sorry for my bad english smile.gif

Also: I have VirtualDub 1.5.1 and this System:
Windows 2000 SP4 and all Updates
Motherboard: Asus K8V SE Deluxe
CPU: AMD 3400+ 64 Bit
2 X 200 GB S-ATA Harddisk
2 X 512 MB DDR RAM 400
The temperatur is ok.

When i encode movies in XVID (all days 4 or 5 series).
I make all in the joblist and on 7 o'clock on evening i begin. When VirtualDub is encode (XVID 2 pass) my PC restarted. The CPU themperatur is on 50 ° and the Motherboard 32 ° (normaly)

Is this a bug on VirtualDub 1.5.1 or in Windows or what is it? On my old System a Asus Board with a AMD Athlon 1700+ and Windows 2000 SP4 and all Updates my PC don't restart

Great

It does sound like an overheating problem. Is the temperature 50 degrees Celsius when your CPU is idle? That seems a bit warm to me. Mine is at 31 as I type this (not encoding anything).

by my merits, 50°c is not hot at all.
on the other hand it may be hot if 50 is really 70-80, if you know what i mean.

if it's the temp, then you can monitor it while you're encoding, and when it passes certain temp. restart may happen.

my mobo displays a wrong temp for cpu readings, so i hooked up external sensor that's touching the core of cpu.
