I am using virtualdub 1.5.10 ver.
I have an Winfast XP2000 delux TV card and can capture TV and video. When I use Virtualdub -> Capture AVI -> Video -> Format and set to 352x288 (PAL) it captures as 336x234! I have also tried Capture AVI -> Video -> Set Custom Format -> pulldown menu to 352x288 again same thing happens.
I tried other format like NTSC and virtualdub always capture a size that is much smaller than whatever i specify.
I am using divX 5.01 codec and it works find with the winfast card and program. It captures NTSC and PAL ok.
Using the Winfast (WDM drivers) it captures ok. Except that the program is slow and keep dropping frames.
I prefer to use vdub if possible.

Check its settings and make sure you don't have cropping enabled in the codec config.
