When I updated 1.5.5 to 1.5.9 there was no posibility to open captured files. Seems like missing header information. Then I checked this with 1.5.10 - same error. I worked with Win98SE and a WDM driver V4.xx for Hauppage TV card. This system has worked fine with all versions of VirualDub up to 1.5.5 |

Hi,
I got a similar problem: I captured an avi from a Haupauge TV card with VirtualDub 1.5.10 and cant open it anymore. The file is 3GB xvid and I really would like to rencode it . How can I fix this??
If I try to open the file I get this error msg:

Hello ! I noticed the problem is a bug indeed to me !
but I succeeded in recovering my long capture file. It's still possible, but you'll have to tweak your file with the integrated hex editor, as Vdub can't do it by itself, complaining about a missing 'movi' Chunk
See this link for my post concerning this bug and my solution. could give anyone interested more detail to recover unreadable files

Thomass/Vdubber: Exactly how are you starting your captures (which menu option or key)? In particular, F5 or F6?
vitamin: Try installing a newer XviD version if one is available. |
