Using recent the most recent Virtualdub when I tried to read a damaged AVI file, it reported reconstruction of the index file and reported some "2 errors" in the file.
I am using an AMD processor and Win98 ...
I forgot to activate "options" at reading so I didnt not asked specificaly to rebuild key frames.
If I tried to save the AVI without any audio Virtualdub simply froze , without even opening the small saving dialog box.
By some mystery now every time I try to save an "damaged " AVI without audio Virtualdub freezes.
Nevertheless using "old Nandub" works well ... but it has a catch, the resulting video has no keyframes, blink.gif ???
Do I need to remake keyframes ?
Ideas ??

tried first saving damaged video in directstreamcopy, and after that loading that (now reconstructed) avi and doing re-keying........?

kf's.well,if it's short video, who needs them (if video plays...and it does)

recently i did that to some clips (mid portions of .avi file missing from the usenet dload) and "dscopy" saved my ass.......image "melts down" on the places where there's chunks missing, but otherwise watchable......
(saves me the trouble of dloading the complete film as i want only few scenes....few juicy ones that is...hehe)
