A DV AVI does not play to the end on 1.5.2. I tried several and they stop a few frames before the end. Click on play and they play a few more. You can do this a few more times and it will then reach the end. All work alright in 1.5.1.
These are 720x576 PAL DV AVIs and I'm using the mainconcept codec.
No big deal but worth mentioning. |

I have a related experience which is a bit more serious than that the file simply doesn't play all the way to the end in the program - it also doesn't save all the way to the end.

I am having a similar problem. I was trying to filter some VHS capture that was done with PICVideo MJPEG and save to Huffyuv. When it was done, I noticed there were quite a few frames missing at the end. I tried to preview it and had the same problem. Tried on a few small video clips and same thing. Funny thing was it did not always stop in the same place. Went back to 1.5.1 and have had no problems. I use the P4 optimized version. Have not had a chance to use the standard version on my P3 to see if the problem is in both. My video was NTSC 720 X 480. |

I can confirm this bug - 1.5.2 loses frames. Number of lost frames depends of various conditions. I tried some tests:
1) original (AVS script, 24252frames) -> VD1.5.2, fast recompres DivX5.0.5 -> 24220 frames (32 lost) -> VD1.5.2, direct stream copy -> 24217frames (3 lost) -> VD1.5.2, direct stream copy -> 24201frames (16 lost)
2) original (AVS script, 24252frames) ->VD1.5.1, fast recompres DivX5.0.5 -> 24252frames (no lost) -> VD1.5.2, direct stream copy -> 24221frames (31 lost) |

I've had this problem, too. I replied to someone in A Curious Situation about this and listed an incomplete workaround:
If you go into Options-Performance and reduce the number of buffers used for pipelining, the number of frames missing decreases. However, the bug doesn't disappear altogether (that's why the workaround is incomplete), even if I use an AVI with audio too, in which case a random amount of frames are missing (sometimes 0). I think this is because there's a bug in 1.5.2 that prevents the pipeline buffers from flushing correctly. Phaeron acknowledges this in Vdub 1.5.2 And Divx5/xvid.

I've gone back to 1.5.1 as Phaeron suggests until he has time to fix it. |
