From your post, there is absolutely nothing we can tell except that you have a problem. Try giving us some information to work with, such as:
- which version of VirtualDub are you using (there's no version 5.3)?
- what are you trying to do?
- where does it crash?
- how does it crash? (i.e. do you get an error dialog box? -- if so, what does it say?)
- a list of appropriate hardware (e.g. if you get this problem when capturing, what capture card do you have?)

- even more important : what compression ( codec ) are you using
- did you try to make something simple with it, like setting 'audio' and 'video' to 'Direct Stream copy' and save as new AVI ? Does it crash also ?

News to me, that many people are having this problem dry.gif

On the other thread you started, you asked for alternatives. Search here for "Aviutl", you'll find at least one discussion I remember of where you can get that free tool. But be warned:

- it's not as good as VD feature-wise, with one or two exceptions

- it's not as stable as VD in general, in my experience (phaeron codes well, in my professional judgment)

- your problem is almost certainly somewhere in your codecs, etc., not in VD, so you'll experience the same problem in Aviutl if so
