QUOTE (raffriff42 @ Apr 14 2014, 02:22 AM)
I am suggesting you play the file that you say is all black, first with VLC player and then with VirtualDub+FFmpeg as per the link.

I think the file may be OK, & your PC is not playing it out correctly. You need to test for this possibility, at least.

I have tried to play it with many players, even uploaded it to youtube as a private video it was still black, I think the problem isnt with the file, but with something to do with virtual dub, because it DID work in the past, and the past recordings will still play on vdub and all other players, but the new files wont, and it wont even show before recording, also I am able to record with honestech (which came with the easycap) and with amcap, but not virtual dub, however the quality with both of those is not as good with virtual dub

Are you really sure that there actually is an output-signal onto that composite cable ?

Do you have possibility to plug it into a television and verify if you really "see" the images.
Only when you are sure of that, you will still have to look for the problem at your easycap and computer's side.

If you do not get a 'preview' in VirtualDub capture mode, chances are very low that the capture itself will be succesfull

Yes I am positive the cable has an output, as I use it on a tv aswell, and as I said in the previous answer I can still see the output via honestech and amcap, so the problem should be with virtual dub itself
