NOTE: 1.10.3 final is out and supercedes all test releases below.

ITT: Fresh 1.10.3 test bits.

Remember, the usual caveats apply for pre-release versions.

Current version:
http://www.virtualdub.org/beta/VirtualDub-...10.3-test13.zip
http://www.virtualdub.org/beta/VirtualDub-...est13-AMD64.zip
http://www.virtualdub.org/beta/VirtualDub-...3-test13-src.7z

Changes:

  • (test-12) Fixed vertical flip in some modes of the deinterlace filter with RGB24 input.
  • (test-12) Degree signs fixed in HSV filter on non-English language settings.
  • (test-12) Fixed vertical flip with field swap filter with RGB24 input.

  • (test-10) Fixed a crash in capture mode when an audio device is removed from the system.
  • (test-9) Added /topmost flag.
  • (test-9) Animated GIF encoder now emits clear codes before the LZW table fills up to work around buggy decoders.

  • (test-9) Fixed problem of video display panes not refreshing properly when changing files (this was probably a side effect of some display refresh fixes I had done).
  • (test-8) Added more formats to the "convert format" filter.
  • (test-8) Added .vpy extension to AVIFile input path.
  • (test-8) AVIFile input path now accepts Unicode filenames.
  • (test-7) Fixed regression in 3D acceleration code.
  • (test-7) Fixed garbled text when using /F flag with 64-bit build.
  • (test-6) Removed compositing test code.
  • (test-6) Program is now marked as high-DPI aware.
  • (test-5) Fixed chunk length error in WAVE64 output.
  • (test-5) Added an option for a confirmation dialog before exiting.
  • (test-1-4) Convert Audio filter no longer defaults to garbage settings.
  • (test-1-4) Fixed bandwidth indicator in capture mode.

Sorry, I don't usually check the forums on weekdays.

The red square was from some composition testing code I had left in. It's been removed.

For the heck of it, I've thrown the high-DPI aware flag on the program and fixed a couple of layout issues in the position control, since high DPI virtualization looks awful.

Something wrong with the internal Resize filter ?

When applying the Resize filter in VirtualDub version 1.10.3-beta6 - build 35323, I get a green output video pane.
Only when choosing "Nearest neighbor" in the 'Filter mode'-setting of the Resize filter, I get a view on the frames of my video.
All the other choices (in the Filter mode-setting) do not work anymore.

I made an AVI output file to see what the result would be, and the Video is also green. Audio is alright.

Additional info: when the Resize filter is preceded by the "Deinterlace-area based" v1.4 external filter from Gunnar Thalin, the output video pane turns to black instead of green. The resulting AVI output file - in that case - is also black.

Er, I haven't changed the resize filter. What's the earliest test release on which this happens for you?

The problem with the black output pane when using the Resize-filter starts in VirtualDub-1.10.3-test5.zip - build 35311 (the one with the red square).
It was not yet present in ...-test4.zip - build 34987.

The effect with the 'green' output pane is only there when I open MPEG2/VOB-files and NOT when opening a classic or standard AVI-file (there it is 'black').

I'am using the VirtualDub 32-bit versions on Windows 7 - Home Edition 32-bit.

Thanks for a further investigation.

Deactivating the "Enable 3D video filter acceleration (VDXA)"-checkbox in the VirtualDub menu Options > Preferences... > '3D accel' resolves the problem with the Resize-filter in version 1.10.3-test6 (and also in - test5).

When this parameter is active in version 1.10.3-test4, it does NOT result in the same problem.

So, something must have been changed starting from -test5 ?

Can you make "timeline format" to be copyable with ctrl+c? this is really painful to go through rightclick+copy each time you need timecode of a particular frame...

Ah, found the problem with 3D acceleration. It was due to some changes I'd made in the 3D graphics layer to support Direct3D 11. The 3D acceleration layer doesn't enable D3D11 yet, but this resulted in the viewport not being set correctly.

As for copying the timeline code with Ctrl+C -- I looked into this and the reason you can't do it is that Ctrl+C is already bound by default to copy frame. You can make it work by unbinding that key in Options > Keyboard Shortcuts. Also, if you just need the frame number, you can use the copy frame number command instead.

"VirtualDub Internal Error. Something appears to be stuck while trying to stop (thread deadlock). Abort operation and exit program?"

The length of the video track is 1min 33sec instead the length of the audio track is 7sec (as reported by MediaInfo).
When I preview it in VirtualDub it play the audio until a certain point where it freeze completely.
The CoreFLAC ACM codec must be installed to see this.
I suppose that the fault is in the ACM codec but maybe can be added a workaround in VirtualDub to avoid this.
What do you think?

Oh i see,. No I need exactly timecode like 0:01:30.007, not the frame number. I'll try unbinding, thanks!

Edit:

I hope you aware that CoreFLAC is very old, undeveloped, broken and forgotten encoder?

No refresh when opening an other file.

1) A little problem I remarked and seems to be there starting from version 1.10.3-test5, is that when I open a file and then open an other file, the first frame of the first file is left on the screen, but the resolution adapts to that of the new opened file.
When I scroll the mousewheel or click a button for the next frame, then the screen (= input pane) gets refreshed and the problem has gone.

2) Something that always has been there, but is a little 'beauty fault', is that the 'Position Control'-bar is not refreshed when 'closing' a file. Thus when VirtualDub is again in it's status where no file is loaded, the timeline of the file that has been closed is still visible.

N.B.: the formal problem I mentioned in this thread - that with the Resize filter - has been resolved in version 1.10.3-test7. Thanks Phaeron.
