Running the latest version of virtual dub 1.9.11.

I am attempting to manually cut some large videos (captured from video tape) into multiple individual parts and save them as separate files titled according to it's content. Both video and audio are in DIRECT STREAM COPY mode.

The problem I run into is that when I specify the selection start and end, the output video does not start where I selected it. It's always about 6.5 seconds more than I want at the start. I've confirmed this on multiple computers and with multiple videos.

Start selection is on a keyframe?
What video format (DV, MJPEG, ...)?

I've seen this too, I believe its normal behaviour for direct stream.

It will go back to the previous keyframe (maybe forward if nearer? not sure),
but I've definately seen it go back multiple times and that can be anywhere
from a fraction of a second to several seconds depending on how far apart your
keyframes are in whatever format video it is.

In most .avi type videos its usually not an issue due to fairly
tight keyframes at least as far as I've noticed. In other formats
it may be a large enough issue to warrant full process mode, however.

Okay, I understand now why it happens. I guess the correct way is to always use full processing mode. But won't that create a lower quality copy?
