Matroska files were working fine on my computer until recently. I don't know if i've accidently deleted a codec or what. Virtualdub mod will not load this mkv file and gives the 'virtual reference' error unfortunately I don't have any other mkv files to try out. I can play the file using media player classic and VLC but not media player 9 or winamp 5. I also cannot load it into Tmpgenc or virtualdub mod. I've tried installing the matroska full pack from www.matroska.org and latest ffdshow but the problem persists. |

VirtualDubMod is outdated, itīs MKV support is ancient, not useable with modern files.
In other words, donīt bother trying to load an MKV file.
Use MKVToolnix instead, if itīs just a simple remux.
[edit]You might try this patch for VDM http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/virtual...24.zip?download
Maybe that helps.
Also, there is http://corecodec.org/projects/mkxstreameditor/ - I never used it, but it may be of help.

Thanks a lot for the info. I added the patch for virtualdub mod and the matroska file parsed ok but I got an error saying the subtitles were not text. However since I had english audio in the file I just loaded the file into mkvtoolnix and deselected the subtitles and saved the rest of the file as a new mkv. It loads ok in the patched version of vdub mod now. |
