Hello everyone!
Until recently I used to work solely with DivX as a codec for avi compression and everything worked fine. However when I recently installed the newest XviD and Huffyuv versions VirtualDubMod was incapable of discovering the two new codecs. In short: when I checked the menu Video>Compression they were just simply not there.
I'd be really glad if anyone could help me with my little problem.
P.S.: Just in case that information is needed: my system is running on WinXP |

For XviD I used the normal setup program I downloaded from the XviD web-site, however for Huffyuv I did use the xxx.inf installation. |

I am having the same issue on my xp machine as well, since the second release candidate in December, it has not shown up in my vdub listings, if I use another program like Gordian Knot it will encode in xvid so I am guessing for the most part it is installed, but I can not just select it if I am only in vdub. |

There is a known problem with XP in this respect, and a way to solve it from the registry. I dont have a link to the corresponding thread handy, but if you search for
'codecs disappear' or similar keywords
on http://forum.doom9.org or here, the threads might come up with a short how-to .....

After quite some time I'm now finally again able to post a reply. Let me first of all thank you for your replies and say that I really appreciate your ideas, however so far nothing has really worked out the way it should have and I'm still having my little problem without any ideas how to solve it.
I also got to agree with stephanV, since I also don't really think that the problem is XP-related.
So I'm still looking forward to the final idea, that's going to solve the problem. Thanks once again in advance for your help. |

Problem solved!
After nearly having forgotten my little codec problem I, just by chance, found a pretty simple solution to it: In the doom9 forum Koepi has posted a little program which did the job for me. So if any of you also have the same problem, like I had, I'd recommend you to check that site: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&t...&threadid=72244
