Append Mpeg2?

Now, I know you should be able to append avi files together for editing, but I can't seem to do it with mpeg2 files... are mpeg2 files going to be supported? Given many digitizing programs will split automatically a 4 GB, this is a pretty useful feature to have (IMO).
