The program will not allow me to select Ogg/Vorbis audio. Even though the option is included in the program, it is greyed out and unusable to me even though i have the right dll's in my VirtualDubMod dir. I've just heard another guy in everwicked.com having the same problem but i don't know if this is a general problem or it is sth that we are missing |

.. of course not. AVI cant hold Vorbis audio because its VBR ( Variable Bitrate ), you have to use OGM container if you want Vorbis ...

There are reasons for that : 1. VBR audio in AVI is not good 2. Technically speaking including Ogg audio in AVI is really really a lot more harder than MP3 3. Nando used a lot of tricks to make this work in Nandub (honestly speaking I allways made the app crash when using Nandub with Ogg audio :/) but those tricks don't seem to work anymore (maybe because the specs evolved)
All those reasons (and especially the 3rd one) lead us to disable Vorbis support in AVI. If you want to use Vorbis, I recommand you to mux in an OGM file. In this case the better way is to add your audio thanks to the 'OGM -> show inputs' window.
If you still want Vorbis in AVI, then give a try to Nandub.

I was the other guy cinefreak talked about, but his problem is different than mine. I wanted to mux the AVI with the OGG so I could have a playable OGM container. Unfortunately, my OGGmux-made OGM container wouldn't play the sound, even though the audio was definitely included.
I opened the avi with VirtualDubMod, but it would not allow me to open the OGG because the option was greyed out. Is this a result of VirtualDubMod not having the capacity to make a playable OGM container? |

Nope it is due to the fact we disabled Vorbis stream handling for AVI files. I experienced the same problem than you with the only AVI with Vorbis audio file I could generate (this was the only time the app didn't crash ) : no audio was played. This is another reason why I implicitely agreed when disabling 'Ogg audio' was proposed some time ago ...

We disabled Vorbis audio for AVI files (i.e. in the audio & Audio2 menu). For muxing OGM files you add streams (Vorbis audio, AC3, MP3 and SRT) thanks to the 'OGM -> Show inputs' window. You can also use the 'Audio' & 'Audio2' menu (to add WAV, AC3 or MP3 streams) but I would recommand you not to do so (because it relies on original VirtualDub methods which are used for AVI, and may not be as efficient for the OGM container).

Yeah someone told me how to do that the other day and I was like... DAMMIT! It was there the whole time! lol. Anyways, the reason my original post in everwicked was titled OGGmux Sound Issue was because I tried OGGmux and the sound wouldn't play. |
