I have a group of old mpg clips and would like to convert them to Divx avi and mp3, assuming that newer codecs would use less space and would run better. I'd like to match the quality of the original clip; they certainly can't get better. Every time I try, the file gets substantially larger instead of smaller, or the quality suffers. Is this generally true about mpg's and avi's or am I not using the right settings? I've tried half a dozen converter programs, always with the same problem. Is there an exisiting software program that will analyze the clip and find the right settings? If not, would this be difficult to do within VirtualDub? Thanks for thinking about this. |
