Would it be possible to remove the taskbar entry for the "Status" window? I never need this. When hitting the minimize button in it, the VirtualDub's main window should get minimized too.

This would also solve this ugly "default icon" issue: virtualdub-status-window.png

FIXED (1.9.10-test3)

More annoying than 11 identical FireFox icons? ohmy.gif

Uncheck "Show status window" under "View" menu.

Uncheck "Show status window" under "View" menu.

But then I don't see the processing status!?

I'm curious why the dubbing dialog shows up on the taskbar in the first place, given the .rc file doesn't specify WS_EX_APPWINDOW.

Top-level windows that are not tool windows show up on the taskbar by default. You only need WS_EX_APPWINDOW to force a window onto the taskbar when it wouldn't ordinarily show.

So you won't be able to remove that taskbar icon?

If not, can you at least give it the proper VirtualDub icon? Thanks! DONE (1.9.10-test3)

If you uncheck "Show status window" option and minimize VirtualDub (main window) you can watch process status on Windows Taskbar or TaskSwitch window.

Cool. But wouldn't it be even better if the process status would be displayed with the VirtualDub window in front? Why do I have to minimize it to see the status in this case?

I am curious... why not be able to minimize VirtualDub to system tray (or as Microsoft likes to call it "taskbar notification area") while performing dub operation? It could show progress in a baloon tip (or a custom tip window like eMule) when you hover with your mouse over it or click it.

I would love a "minimize to tray" option. Tray icon should get hidden automatically when VirtualDub is opened again.

But I wouldn't like a balloon tip/custom tip. The progress could be displayed directly on the trayicon itself (as seen with the download speed in Emule's trayicon or the copy progress in Total Commander's trayicon) ...

Same with the Job Control window. Really would like to see it without a taskbar entry ...

Ah, I already do this with a third party app... biggrin.gif
TrayIt! 4.6.5.5
http://www.teamcti.com/trayit/trayit.htm
It is a tool I simply can not live without......
I use it with Media Player Classic - Home Cinema when outputting to plasma, the player is placed in systray..
When encoding, in VD I keep main window in systray and status window up..

Don't think main site download link has worked in years !
But can be obtained here !

Tooltips are usefull, there should be an option to have them because they can convey more information than the tiny icon alone.
