Unofficial VirtualDub Support Forums > Off-Topic > Is There Any Software Like This For Video?

Many years ago when I did still photography I used software by Mediachance. They had/have some pretty good software.

This one which I do remember using, a glass photo filter simulator.

I would like to know if there is something out there for Vdub and Vegas that would process video using such filters? I had also tried looking into windows color pickers and searching for hex codes that would give the same effects as warming/cooling, like for a Tiffen 812 warming filter, and color correction filters but have come up dry.

I recently found a ton of old photo glass filters from my old still photo days, Kodak and Tiffen types. I was playing around with them, putting them in front of the lenses of the Jazz and the Flip UltraHD cameras. The polarizer on a Flip can give really punchy colors and minimized/removed reflections depending where the sun was directed. I also have a polarizer somewhere that went onto my old Hasselblad camera, a Tiffen. Hasselblad wanted about $300.00 for one, yeah right.

Would had been neat if the Flip had front threads for the lens but it doesn't. I could probably make a homemade filter holder for it like what I did many years ago with my Hasselblad for using gel/acetate filters. It was made out of all cardboard parts and painted black. Hasselblad wanted close to $400.00 just for the filter holder so I made one, crude but it worked. This was back in the mid 90's too. Wouldn't want to imagine how much they are now, lol.

For those who don't know: A Hasselblad is a professional medium format camera that takes 120 format roll film. Got one when I was a student at Hallmark Institute back in the 90's. Back then the only thing "digital" was one hour a week using some Photoshop program and Macs. Digital was just starting to poke out back then.

I miss the old darkroom days. I favor the old way more than digital when it comes to still photography. That's how I would do it if I ever got back into it. I would probably be the only analog photographer out there, lol.

I did some color grabs of some of the Tiffen filters, they might be accurate representations but they should be close:

I didn't bother getting the diffusion filters since only the colors can be grabbed.

The Logo filter seems to work out fine with the overlays, just have to play around with the slider opacity in the plugin. Looks like you can't use curve blending for just the overlay to lessen overlay color. Using the fill filter seems to work OK without the compositing options. An ADD or MUL might be what would be needed with the adding of the color.

I tried a few logo and overlay plugins but they either didn't work or made Vdub bomb out.
